VAVRICKA NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
Fall Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to students officially admitted into the Nursing Program. Preference is given to those that show need.
This scholarship was established by Robert “Bob” Vavricka and Patricia “Pat” Vavricka, both of whom have had distinguished careers in education and healthcare. Pat began her nursing journey at the Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas, and later earned her RN to BSN degree from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. She continued her education at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she completed the midwifery program and received a master’s degree, becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife. Over the course of her career, Pat delivered nearly 5,000 babies, making a significant impact in the field of maternal health.
Bob Vavricka holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Fort Hays State University, as well as a second master’s degree from East Central University. He dedicated 18 years to teaching in public schools before moving to Oklahoma, where he joined ECU as a professional staff member until his retirement.
Bob and Pat Vavricka recognize the critical and increasing demand for nurses in today’s healthcare system. Through the establishment of this scholarship, they hope to make a difference in the lives of students who join the nursing profession, helping to alleviate some of the financial barriers that may stand in the way of their education and future careers.
