NISHA KARKI INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

Current Spring Only Scholarship Nisha Karki was born and raised in Nepal and came from a very poor family.  She was an only child and lost her father at a very young age.  Nisha was raised in a one room house and her widowed mother worked tirelessly to give her a better life.  Her mother managed to raise money from relatives and friends to send Nisha to the U.S. to get a nursing degree.   Nisha was a compassionate, intelligent, hardworking, fun loving, and cheerful person.  She passed away on November 16, 2016 at the young age of 20.  To commemorate her life and legacy, the ECU Asian Student Association, alums and friends have established this endowed scholarship fund.   The recipient must have attended 2 full semesters at ECU to be eligible. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate leadership and service both within the community as well as the University. Recipients must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.8 or minimum graduate level GPA of 3.2. Students from Nepal will be given first preference. This scholarship will be awarded for the spring semester and the recipient must be planning to attend ECU the following fall semester.
